The meticulous creation involves heating it to a staggering 620°C, then rapidly cooling it, forming a surface compressive stress layer and an internal tensile stress layer. This remarkable transformation endows it with exceptional impact resistance and thermal stability, capable of withstanding vast temperature differences up to 200°C. In the rare event of breakage, it shatters into benign honeycomb-like particles, significantly minimizing injury risks. Widely acclaimed for its versatility, this glass is prevalent in curtain walls, doors, windows, partitions, and furniture. Note, however, that post-tempering re-cutting is not feasible. The spontaneous breakage rate is a minimal 0.3%, primarily due to nickel sulfide inclusions, but this can be efficiently mitigated through lamination.
