This process forms a surface compressive stress layer and an internal tensile stress layer, vastly enhancing its impact resistance and thermal stability, enabling it to withstand temperature variations up to 200°C. When broken, it shatters into honeycomb-like blunt-angled particles, thereby significantly reducing the risk of injury. This exceptional glass is widely utilized in curtain walls, doors/windows, partitions, and furniture, although it cannot be re-cut after tempering. The spontaneous breakage risk is approximately 0.3%, often due to nickel sulfide impurities, a risk which can be effectively mitigated through lamination processes.
