Product description
Tempered glass, also known as toughened glass, is a safety glass manufactured through thermal processing. Its strength exceeds ordinary glass by 3-5 times. The process involves heating glass to 620°C followed by rapid cooling, creating a surface compressive stress layer and internal tensile stress layer, enhancing impact resistance and thermal stability (withstanding 200°C temperature differences). When shattered, it breaks into honeycomb-like blunt-angled particles, minimizing injury risks. Widely used in curtain walls, doors/windows, partitions, and furniture, it cannot be re-cut after tempering. With approximately 0.3% spontaneous breakage risk (often triggered by nickel sulfide impurities), laminated processes effectively mitigate this hazard.
Tempered glass is widely used in architectural and daily life applications. In construction, it is commonly employed for high-rise curtain walls, glass doors/windows, skylights, and glass walkways, where its wind resistance and impact resistance ensure safety. In residential settings, it is used for shower enclosures, furniture countertops, and room partitions, with its blunt-angled fragmentation reducing injury risks. Transportation applications include vehicle side windows, high-speed train windows, and bus stop screens, leveraging both safety and temperature resistance. Public facilities utilize laminated tempered glass for railings and canopy roofs to prevent spontaneous breakage. In household appliances, it serves high-temperature components like oven doors and microwave panels. Commercial spaces rely on its strength for storefront displays and automatic doors. Its non-cuttable nature requires customized processing during manufacturing.
