The production process involves heating the glass to a remarkable 620°C, followed by a rapid cooling period. This method creates a surface compressive stress layer and an internal tensile stress layer, enhancing both impact resistance and thermal stability. It can endure temperature fluctuations of up to 200°C. Upon breaking, it shatters into honeycomb-like blunt-edged particles, significantly reducing injury risk. This extraordinary glass finds extensive use in curtain walls, doors, windows, partitions, and furniture, although post-tempering cutting is not possible. The spontaneous breakage rate is about 0.3%, primarily due to nickel sulfide impurities, but lamination processes can effectively address this issue.
