The manufacturing process involves heating the glass to a precise 620°C, followed by rapid cooling, which creates a unique balance of a surface compressive stress layer and an internal tensile stress layer. This results in exceptional impact resistance and remarkable thermal stability, allowing it to withstand drastic temperature differences of up to 200°C. In the event of breakage, tempered glass shatters into safe, honeycomb-like blunt-angled particles, significantly reducing injury risks. Its versatile applications range from curtain walls and doors/windows to partitions and furniture. However, it cannot be re-cut after the tempering process. With a minimal spontaneous breakage risk of approximately 0.3% (often due to nickel sulfide impurities), employing a laminated process effectively mitigates this concern.
