This transformative process results in the creation of a robust surface compressive stress layer coupled with an internal tensile stress layer, significantly enhancing both impact resistance and thermal stability, enabling it to handle temperature fluctuations up to 200°C. When broken, it shatters into small, honeycomb-like blunt-angled particles, drastically reducing the risk of injury. This versatile glass finds its applications in curtain walls, doors, windows, partitions, and furniture. However, it's important to note that post-tempering, it cannot be re-cut. Despite a minimal spontaneous breakage risk of approximately 0.3%, typically due to nickel sulfide impurities, this risk is effectively minimized through lamination processes.
